The cultural diversity in Mauritius is unique. It is a rich treasure for the Church and for the mission. In fact, a Mauritian Indian or a Chinese Mauritian would easily adapt to the cultures of India and China. Mauritians are born to be missionaries !!

During the colonial time, the Dutch, the French and the English were all eager to conquer Mauritius. They used the island as a transit point for supplying of provision on their way to Goa and Malacca but did not settle. Indeed, Mauritius was called : The Star and the Key of the Indian Ocean, which is still written on our national emblem.

Spiritually, according to the great potential for mission and the strategic location, we think that Mauritius or the Islands are still the key of the Indian Ocean. As well, it is still a link between the West and the South-east. YWAM Mauritius welcome for it's training program not only young Mauritians, but also youth from the neighbouring Islands and much further. The goal is to raise young people for mission to the Islands and countries in the Indian Ocean.
