The Africa Leadership Team is composed of a group of leaders drawn from around the continent. Their common desire is to serve the mission by providing the wisdom, direction and guidance of their combined 283 years in YWAM leadership! Each brings their own particular gifting and experience to the team, each taking responsibility for a specific aspect of the wellbeing of YWAM Africa.

The ALT is led by an Executive Team, made up of three men who have a calling and passion to serve the continent as a whole: Kobus Van Niekerk, Garry Tissingh and Pete Thompson. Their roles require a substantial commitment to traveling amongst the nations of Africa, facilitating growth by enabling leaders to effectively move the work of YWAM forward in the various nations and regions.

In the case of the Executive Team the meetings have given rise to one member standing down (Faithful Biney) and another being nominated and appointed (Pete Thompson). These developments are in large part indicative of a desire amongst the leaders to see their team grow in order to be able to more effectively serve YWAM across the continent.

Until this week, when his term finished, the role of Field Director was filled by John Kisamwa. The nomination procedure for his successor will not be processed within this year and information about this will follow. In the meantime Kobus van Niekerk will act as Chairperson. He will take responsibility for calling the team together and for ensuring that between themselves and other leaders around the continent, the vision of YWAM in Africa is being fulfilled.
