Youth With A Mission- Liberia
Mission: YWAM Liberia exists to promote a life style of evangelism and godly living in order draw people from vary ethnic and tribal backgrounds into saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. In our post war setting, we want to bring the whole gospel to the whole man through biblical teaching and practical demonstration of God’s love, believing that God’s intentions for the poor and needy include hope justice, mercy and compassion. We train local churches in taking personal responsibility for reaching out to their neighbours. We accomplish these through YWAM’s three thrusts of Training, Evangelism and Mercy Ministries

Did you know ...

Liberia's civil wars lasted from 1990 - 2003, when an interim government was put in place and a 15,000 strong UN peacekeeping force deployed.
Over 200,000 people had been killed in the war, and thousands more displaced and made refugees. In 2005, a democratic election returned Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as Africa's first woman president.

Since then, the country has slowly been improving. The new president has the support of the USA and the international community, and financial investment is returning.

Electricity has returned to parts of the capital city Monrovia, and running water. There is still a high level of robberies with violence in the capital, as former rebel fighters are now free to live in the city and still have a 'fighter' mindset. There is great need of rehabilitation, and education of former combatants. There is a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, established to deal with the untold crimes and atrocities committed during the war. The government is committed to root out corruption and the Vice President, Mr. Joseph Boakai, is also a Christian and a man of integrity.

A new road renovation project has recently started and children are back in school. 2006 and 2007 have been years of slow progress.
