1. Update from Day 2 of ALT meetings in Jinja, Uganda: Praying Leaders
One moment the leaders were listening to the report from East Africa, the next they were pouring out their hearts in prayer. Chairs were pushed back as people knelt, tears were cried and hearts were bared to God. Together they cried out, asking for breakthroughs in every area of YWAM Africa and our work, asking God for revival. They expressed our need to have God's perspective on situations around the continent, in order to see and address things in His way. Out of this place of humility, acknowledging a need of God and a desire to work from a place of submission, the leaders asked God to make of this time of me
etings a Kairos moment, a watershed, a turnaround.
Please continue to pray with our leaders as they hold their annual meetings: prayer is our key to breakthrough.
2. Highlights from Leader's Reports
Opportunity was given at the ALT meetings for each of the leaders to bring reports from their areas of responsibility. During this time Anke Tissingh particularly highlighted the growth in Member Care across the continent. It is an area in which there has been much room for improvement, and happily there have been many changes over the last couple of years.
Anke carries responsibility for Member Care across the continent, but given her location in Senegal her focus has been predominantly on the North and Western regions, with assistance in the Southern and South Central regions coming from Jane Rhoades and her team. (See the last edition of Djembe for more on Member Care in YWAM Africa.)
Anke expressed her satisfaction that our focus as YWAM, which in the area of Member Care has been on crisis management, has now become more preventative. This proactive approach will develop as more training is made available. Following the Member Care workshop recently hosted in South Africa the leaders look forward to multiplying that training to other regions. Keep your ears open for opportunities in your area.
