Daily Update from the Africa Leadership Team, 2006
26 May

Today the Africa Leadership Team meetings drew to a close. It has been a week of challenging discussions but God has been faithful to lead the leaders to some helpful conclusions. Many have been praying for these meetings, for which the ALT extend their heartfelt thanks: these prayers enabled them to find wisdom and clarity in their discussions. In concluding their time together various leaders brought reports from different nations and the team closed with a time of prayer for the continent. They also took time to pray for Jean-Patrick Perrin, who was recently made Regional Director for West Africa. God reminds us all of the importance of prayer: may we be in prayer for this continent, trusting God for deep transformation and for the faith to continue working towards that end.

As the Africa Leadership Team continues to meet in Dakar, Senegal, they turned their attention to a discussion of the roles and responsibilities of their own team members, in recognition of a desire for greater clarity of expectations and for more effective teamwork. Iain Muir continued to bring his wisdom and input in order to help the team move forward.

Following a day of intense discussion, that inevitably takes place at a time of leadership change, tonight the Africa Leadership Team joined together with the Field Service Team for a relaxed evening with the outgoing Director, John Kisamwa. In a spirit of love and acceptance the leaders took time to affirm John for the qualities he brought to his role and to thank him and his assistant, Brian King, for their years of service and sacrifice for the continent. The stories and anecdotes flowed as first one and then another spoke of memorable moments they had shared with John, many remarking on his hospitality, his vision and his sense of humor, even under pressure. For all these and more John has been appreciated.
