January Prayer Focus: Preparing Our Hearts

This month, we are asking God to cleanse our hearts as a family, giving Him permission to reveal areas that displease Him and that prevent Him from living His life through us. This is partly a personal exercise, yet one that will affect the entire YWAM family. Israel prepared their hearts after crossing the Jordan and waited for instructions before moving into the promised land. That is what January 3 is all about.

As Lynn's letter suggests, take time to let God speak to you both personally and as a whole group. Wait in expectation that He will bring to light personal issues that you need to take care of as well as issues that we must all deal with together. Throughout the day, keep in mind the growth that God says is coming to YWAM. By the end of the day, can we say that we're more prepared for what He has for us than we were before?

Take time to thank God for:

  • His work in the past;
  • His mercies which are new every morning (Lam. 3:22-23); and
  • His future promises for YWAM.

Worship God in whatever form you choose.
Wait on the Lord in silence during part of your time together.
Appoint a scribe to take notes for fresh words from God that you believe are for all of YWAM.

These are just simple reminders. We believe you will each find an appropriate way to participate.

We look forward to hearing from you at prayerday@ywam.org with the things you’ve heard from God. Also, please visit our new Prayer Day website at http://www.prayerday.org to hear how other YWAMers are experiencing the monthly prayer days at their locations.
