YWAM Winipeg launches prayer initiative for Northern Uganda

In Northern Uganda, a conflict has been waging for 20 years. As a result tens of thousands of children have been kidnapped and millions of people have been displaced. According to the United Nations it's the worst humanitarian crisis on the planet and they've called for intervention. After watching the ground-breaking documentary, "Invisible Children" http://www.invisiblechildren.com/, several of the staff of YWAM Urban Ministries in Winipeg, USA decided that they had to act and so they created the Gulu Prayer Project.

Gulu is a town in the north of Uganda, the area that over the last two decades has been ruled and suppressed by "The Lord's Resistance Army" (LRA) and their leader Joseph Kony. Through kidnapping, raping, killing and robbing people they've sown fear. So far the Ugandan government has not been able to do anything to restore peace in the area.

The Gulu Prayer Project is a prayer initiative that will run 24 hours a day for two week straight resulting in 336 hours of focused prayer. The initiative will start on March 16th at 8pm (Central Time. A website (www.guluprayerproject.blog.com) is created to facilitate the movement.

The prayer project is meant 'to be the launching point for direct involvement on serving these children, both through awareness and on-location development' the YWAM Winipeg staff say. Anyone who wants to be involved can find more information on the website. One can also sign up for a slot using the comment section of "Sign Up To Pray" (http://guluprayerproject.blog.com/572860/)
