Update from the Africa Leadership Team, Saturday, May 26, 2007

The annual meetings of the Africa Leadership Team drew to a close yesterday. It was with a great sense of unity and a good level of mutual trust that the leaders said their goodbyes and went on their way, some to northern Uganda, others to Congo, to South Africa or to the UK. The few remaining will attend the international HIV/AIDS conference beginning tomorrow at the Jinja base.

The meetings had gone very well. Over the last two days the leaders discussed many of the issues that are important to us all … particularly the issues of leadership and finances. It was wonderful to see the way the group made time to bring these areas of concern to God, asking for His inspiration and guidance even as they committed themselves to address the problems and to explore various solutions. As a team they appointed Garry Tissingh to help move us forward in the area of leadership, especially training across the continent; Jon Armstrong and Jean Patrick Perrin will be forming a Working Group to explore models of support-raising that might be helpful in the African context.
