Call to Prayer

YWAM, join together in prayer for the continent of Africa! Little by little we will see transformation. Remember: our month of prayer begins June 1st.

As the leaders of YWAM Africa continued their annual meetings this morning in Jinja, Uganda, there was a strong sense that God is calling us all to a greater commitment to prayer. Feeding back their impressions from the last few days, the leaders were unanimous in their sense that YWAM Africa needs to experience breakthrough in many areas. Garry Tissingh reminded the group of the scripture from Exodus, recording God's word to the Israelites about how they were to move into the Promised Land and take it from its occupants: 'Little by little I will drive them out, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land' (Exodus23, 30). Garry encouraged the team that even as they discuss some of the 'thorny issues' that concern them, God will cause breakthrough 'little by little', as we are faithful to pray and obey His word.

In response to this word the leaders laid aside their agenda, to lift the needs of the continent to God. As hearts were poured out in French, English and Swahili the sense was of the group joining hands to stand in the gap on behalf of YWAM Africa.

Let us follow our leaders by rising up in persistent prayer, regularly asking God for breakthrough. During June we will join together for our 4th annual month of prayer for YWAM Africa. Please photocopy the Prayer Guides that have been mailed to your bases and mobilize prayer in your area, using the information in these guides to pray with insight.

In the meantime please pray for our Africa Leadership Team to be enabled to make speedy progress through their agenda ' this will release them to spend Friday together in concerted prayer for the continent. Join them from your location!
