| Home Front Team A good Home Front Team can bring an enormous amount of encouragement to a missionary far from home, working in a situation culturally, economically, linguistically and spiritually different from her own. A HFT creates a living link between the sending church and the mission worker, functioning as a 'communications bridge' between the two. In practice, a team may begin at the initiative of a little group with a concern to look after the interests of the mission worker. It also happens that the mission worker takes the initiative and approaches a number of people in the church and/or family members with the request to form a HFT. The key here is that the team comes together because the mission worker has spent time building relationships, ensuring that others understand their vision and calling and share their burden for their target people group. This 'communications bridge' we speak of might be built by passing on information about your work through newsletters or church bulletins, promoting prayer for your work by sending information to the church cell groups, or by having a member of your HFT present your news during a Sunday worship service. Happy building!! AfriCom, Miranda Heathcote |
